Young People and Policing Group
16th December 2014
SLIG has facilitated a course of interaction between local young people and the PSNI, aimed at improving relations between the two. The course was designed to challenge both young people and the neighbourhood policing team by placing them in the shoes of the other, and helping them develop empathy for the circumstances of the other. The course included sessions exploring young people’s views and experiences of policing, a question and answer session with the police and information on young people’s rights in relation to things like stop and search. It culminated in an overnight residential which included a fun day of outdoor activities.
