History Group

16th December 2014

In Autumn 2014 SLIG facilitated an extremely popular course on local history, tracing the birth and evolution of Belfast, and the role that local families played in the industrial development of the new city. We were overwhelmed with the number of people seeking to do the course - over 80 expressions of interest were received and 66 people attended. Due to large numbers, with the agreement of tutor Jimmy McDermott, we divided the group into smaller groups. The group ran for six Thursday evenings and included field trips to Cloona House and Drumbeg Cemetery. Due to popularity we will be running the course again in the New Year
