Interface Soccer Sevens, 2014

8th May 2014

Our annual Interface Soccer Sevens event ran at Seaview, the home of Crusaders FC, at the end of March with over 100 young people participating across two age groups.

Seven-a-side teams from interface across Belfast including Suffolk/Lenadoon, Ardoyne/Shankill and Donegall Pass/Lower Ormeau competed at Under 11 and Under 15 levels in a gripping tournament that saw everyone play each other before advancing to the knockout stages.

In the Under 11 competition, Suffolk progressed to the Semi Final only to lose narrowly to their Village counterparts. In the other Semi Final, Manor Hearts beat Lower Ormeau by a single goal and it was the Cliftonville Road lads who went on to win the final.

The Under 15 competition was keenly contested but it was Ardoyne who emerged triumphant, winning the final on penalties after close encounters with teams from Lenadoon, Village and Lower Ormeau.

The young people mixed naturally on the day with all there for a shared love of the beautiful game, highlighting the commonality that exists between our young people.
