Community Relations Chief Peter Osborne VisIts SLIG
8th May 2014
At the end of February we were delighted to welcome Peter Osborne to SLIG, following his recent appointment as new Chief Executive of Community Relations Council (CRC). Peter expressed a very strong interest in our work and stated that he holds SLIG as a ‘role model of best practice in the community sector.’ We were able to talk to Peter about our goals and needs going forward, not just for SLIG but for the community sector as a whole. A theme for the discussion was the on-going need for funding in interface areas – as SLIG’s Renee Crawford stated, ‘If you want to take the temperature of a peace process, take it in an interface area’. This visit was vital in cementing our relationship with CRC, who have historically been very supportive and instrumental in funding a number of our staff and programmes, and we look forward to working closely with CRC and Peter in the future.
