SLIG, as a partner of Belfast Community Sports Development Network (BCSDN), have an invaluable resource available to the entire community in the form of our multi skills coach James Wright.
James, who plays Irish League football at Championship level, is a very experienced coach having worked with Sportopps for five years before being appointed by BCSDN two years ago.
19 other coaches are based with other partners across the city and they work in a range of sports and physical disciplines including GAA, Rugby, Tennis, Cricket, Soccer, Athletics and Cycling. There are two physical activity leaders who specifically work with women, an older persons coach and six multi skills coaches including James.
The multi skills coaches deliver a wide range of activities including Olympic Handball, general fitness, rowing, circuits and much, much more. All the coaches are fully vetted and qualified.
The resource is available to all groups within Belfast. The coaches work in phases throughout the year such as Halloween to Christmas, New Year to mid term and so on.
James has been working across the city but has a presence in each phase in our local area. Groups including Suffolk Community Centre and Suffolk Youth Club, Horn Drive Drop In Centre, Sarsfields GAC, Glen Parent Youth Club, Kids Together, St Oliver Plunkett FC and St Oliver Plunkett PS have all used the service over the last year and provided fantastic feedback about the coaches.
